Subject: Columbus Studios Hostel
Title: Got what I paid for..
Rating: 2

For the price I paid to stay on New York's Upper West Side, I was surprised it wasn't worse. The room smelled like armpits and years of filth, but there weren't any creepy-crawlies, and I found the staff to be most gracious and helpful.

I could have done without the blood-stained mattress and the (actual) chunk of poop on my bedspread, but I didn't expect the Hilton.

Overall, in a pinch (or if I couldn't afford better, as was the case this time) I would stay there again. They were quite happy to give me new bedspreads when I reported the poop.

Oh, that was just the Owl-- one of his little woodland friends locked him out.

A review:

Imagine awakening at 4:00am to the sound of loud footsteps in the stairwell, only to realize that someone is drunk and knocking on your hotel door saying, "Beaver...it's me.  Let me in, Beaver."  I suppose we could have overlooked the lack of vaccuuming and the overall smell of dirt.  But, how is it that a back door that should be locked "for our guests' safety" was a way for a drunk man to enter the hotel?  Needless to say, our seven day stay was cut short by six days.

Room was very nice and clean and there was friendly staff.  I lost my pulse, but they found and kept in safe with honesty.  Highly recommend lodging facility.

Your mom is 90 YEARS OLD. It's a party FOR HER. Ergo, it takes place at the Cracker Barrel closest to where SHE lives, and everybody else just deals with how long it takes to get there.

After reading the reviews on this site, I just had to tell of my experience at the Inn...We stayed here because it looked like a wonderful place with so much history & ambiance..the male Inn keeper was very nice, telling us about the history of the place, the wife was very distant and unfriendly...we arrived around 4 p.m....hopefully in time for a cup of tea...but no tea was offered, none in sight..she was however baking Pillsbury slice and bake cookies which she burned...no homebaked goodies here!...They had a new adorable black poodle..Waldo...who left us little smelly packages outside our bedroom door!!...at one point I could not sleep in the bed because it was so unconfortable that I decided to get up and sit outside our room on the top of the stairs...and guess what I sat in!! Little Waldo had left a smelly little pkg. there also!....now this would have been funny ...because I am a big dog lover...but after all we were paying for this!. when we told the Inn keeper the response was "oh, bad little puppy" ..no I'm sorry or anything!..we got up early the next morning and left without breakfast, we didn't want to ruin any more of our trip....I would suggest you pass this one up !! big waste of good money!

Hello.  I well be staying at the Barcelo Maya rsort in the riviera maya mexico.  I would like to know if there are any cocos nucifera palm trees on this property as it is very important that these types of palms are growing there.  If they do not grow the cocos nucifera palms, will you please ask the hotel to plant some? A new lodging type!

The vast majority of properties on TA.com are categorized as hotels, motels, B&Bs or inns. However, we do have some more unusual ones-- like "kibbutz" and "ryokan." We hadn't really thought about the sort of place this user is asking about, however... guess we should have our editors get right on it...
